It is notable that Dheeraj stepped in as a replacement for Shoaib Ibrahim, who was not happy with his character Prem in the daily. However, Dheeraj took up the task really well and has done full justice to it. When asked what made him take the big risk, he said, “Till now my experience while shooting for Sasural Simar Ka has been amazing. The cast is great and so is the production house. I won't use the word 'risk' for my decision, but it's a challenge for any actor to portray a new character. I feel characters are important than actors. My optimism that audiences will love Prem even if I play the role instead of Shoaib Ibrahim inclined me to do this show. For audience it is Prem who is important and not any actor who is enacting that role”.
Coming to his personal life, Dheeraj admitted being in a relation and said, “I am not single. My girlfriend is from the entertainment industry only. But I can't reveal much about her at the moment. When the time is right, I will surely talk about it”.
