Actress Jaya Bhattacharya proved her flexibility by essaying both positive and negative character in shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahoo Thi, Banoo Mein Teri Dulhan, Kasamh Se, Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan.
Last seen in Life OK’s Ek Thi Naayika, she has so far refrained from doing a full-fledged character. However, as per the latest information, Jaya is all set to return to a daily soap in a full-fledged character. Sources say that she has been roped in to play a pivotal role in Shakuntalam Telefilm's for their upcoming show on Sony Entertainment Television.
It is also heard that Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar fame Ruslaan Mumtaz is playing the male lead in the show and this happens to be his debut TV show. The production house has now signed Jaya Bhattacharya to play a key role. She is to play the mother of Ruslaan’s character. The shooting for the show is expected to go on floors soon. Confirming the news, Jaya said, "Yes, I am doing the show but it's too early to comment on this."
