Thanks to the small screen actors like Sushant Singh Rajput, Ayushmann Khurrana and most recent Hussain Kuwajerwala and Manish Paul, the gap between TV and Bollywood is now bridging up.
Sharad Kelkar, who is well-known for playing vital characters in dailies like Saat Phere, Bairi Piyaa, Sindoor Tere Naam and more, says he appreciates the change in perception where people are not categorizing actors as TV or movie artists anymore. He is hopeful that the distance between film and TV would end some day.
“Now the people's perception is changing. Now they are considering actors as actors only and not categorising them as TV actor or film actor,” said Sharad, who has done roles on silver screen in films like Uttarayan and 1920: Evil Returns.
He was speaking at the special screening of Shree that stars small screen actor Hussain Kuwajerwala, a popular heart throb of t-town seen in dailies like Kumkum, Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Rishtey. “It's a great time for all the (TV) actors. They can now switch from here (TV) to there (films),” said Sharad, who currently hosts Colors’ crime show Shaitaan - A Criminal Mind.
“Today, TV people are working in films and vice versa. So, it is good for the industry. Now the distance between the TV and films is getting narrow. And I hope it may end someday,” adds Sharad.
Directed by Rajesh Bachchani, the film has actress Anjali Patil opposite Hussain. It released on April 26, 2013.
